This symposium aims to discuss and clarify the interdisciplinary approach for patients with a peripheral facial paralysis. Several questions will be answered in the morning, concerning the management in the acute setting, when to refer the patient, electrodiagnostics, staging of the paralysis, treatment with mime therapy, botulinum toxine or surgery, and tips and tricks for the patient and his family. This will be followed by a practical workshop in the afternoon. Using videocases, some revalidation skills are trained and treatment options are discussed. Target audience: medical doctors (general practitioners, otorhinolaryngologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation specialists, etc.) and paramedics (speech therapists and physiotherapists).
