VA-NKO 2024 Surgical Skill Courses
Dear members,
Like every year, we are organizing the VA-NKO Skill Courses this spring!
You will have the opportunity to practice surgical techniques on fresh frozen heads throughout the day, under the guidance of experts in their field. Each course is either preceded by a webinar or has a theoretical session on the day itself, clearly explaining what is expected of you. And of course, each course includes a provided lunch so that we can also take the opportunity to get to know each other better.
Programme:
- Friday 12/04: FESS Course (Prof. Dr. Ph. Eloy)
- Saturday 13/04: Facial Plastics Course (Dr. G. Jeunen)
- Saturday 27/04: Introduction Course for Temporal Bone Dissection (*)
- Friday 03/05 & Saturday 04/05: Mini Bony Obliteration Tympanoplasty Course (*)
(*) The above two otology courses are supervised by Prof. Dr. J. van Dinther, Prof. Dr. E. Offeciers, Prof. Dr. A. Zarowski and Dr. G. De Greve.

Price:
Each course is offered at a rock-bottom price of €300, the exclusive 2-day course for €450.
Registration:
Every year these courses sell out in a flash. This is why we apply the "first come, first served" principle. On Wednesday 21st of February, the following registration link will open at 8PM. Registration is only final after payment.

After last years succes VA-NKO will organize the same hands on courses in small groups this summer.

VA-NKO 2021 FESS Course (Ended)

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, we could not organize the yearly FESS Course as we are used to. Unfortunately, also most international surgical courses have been postponed. This Spring 2021, VA-NKO organized the "Surgical Spring Courses" in small groups, including one FESS Course on May 29th. Belgian ENT residents who are member of VA-NKO were informed by mail, and the courses were fully booked in less than 24h. The courses will be organized in the skills lab of the European Institute for ORL-HNS of the Sint-Augustinus hospital in Antwerp. The equipment during the courses will by provided by Storz and Medtronic. We look forward to seeing the participants and hope to organize our FESS courses again as soon as possible! |

of the Paranasal Sinuses & Anterior Skull Base!

What?
Practical workshop in which every of the 11 participants receives a fresh frozen cadaver head (both sides).
The goal is to individually perform as much as possible on your own pace (uncinectomy, antrostomy, anterior/posterior ethmoidectomy, sphenoidotomy, frontotomy, search for arteries, endoscopic DCR, DRAF IIB and DRAF III,...). Prepare yourself; the course is intended as a practical session with individual guidance of the teachers.
The equipment (individual endoscopes, instruments, shaver, burr) will be provided by Stöpler and Medtronic.
The participation fee including lunch is 350€.
When?
The course will take place on December 7th, 2019 (9-16u) in the Skillslab of the Augustinus Hospital, Antwerp.
A second session for 11 other participants will take place on December 14th, 2019. Teachers will be announced soon.
Who?
As places are limited (11 participants per session), only Belgian ENT residents who are member of VA-NKO will be eligible.
We will work with the first response principle and will give preference to residents who are already member of VA-NKO (membership fee is 15€) and residents who did not participate in the past.
